It’s bad enough that this show actually got 4 Emmy nominations in questionable categories. I had a bunch of reviews for Gotham up, all of them bad, because the show is simply awful. Now they are getting Michael Chiklis from the Shield coming on. Okay you can say he was in the Fantastic Four movies and they were not the greatest movies in the world, but his short-lived stint on the grossly under rated “No Ordinary Family” was not bad, and he has done Vegas, Sons of Anarchy (though why he wasn’t Vic Mackie since they were obviously in the same TV Universe) and American Horror Story, so he’s not stranger to genre TV. However the difference is that the other shows are leaps and bound above the horrible Gotham. (Or Batman Babies, if you want to get technical about it’s theme.)
So according to all reports, or the two I saw online, Michael Chiklis will be coming to Gotham as Captain Nathaniel Barnes a “law and order” guy whose going to attempt to stop the corruption in Gotham PD. According to producers:
“Captain Nathaniel Barnes lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force. He is a law and order zealot; unafraid of making enemies – on either side of the law. For Gordon, Barnes is a hero and a mentor, someone with whom he can share the burden of heroism. Captain Barnes proves himself to be a strong ally to Gordon… but one day he will make an equally powerful enemy.”
Four Emmy nominations and the coming of Michael Chiklis is news so we had to report it. But bring Chikls on will not change our minds on how bad this show is and wondering why it’s still on the air.
